Oakland offers many recreational opportunities that contribute to our quality of life. We offer wonderful hiking trails that run along the shore of the Messalonskee Stream, two public beaches, one on Messalonskee lake and the other on McGrath Pond, boating on 3 lakes, two public parks and so much more.

Oakland Messalonskee Boat Landing and Public Beach

Located on the Old Belgrade Road in Oakland, the Oakland Boat landing and Public Beach offers access to our cherished Messalonskee lake. There is also a small public beach to enjoy with family and friends. For more information, please call the Oakland Town Office at 207-465-7357.


Pleasant Point Park Recreation Area and Public Beach

Located on the McGrath Pond Road in Oakland, the Pleasant Point Park Recreation Area offers a park like setting and a small public beach. Messalonskee Stream Trail


Enjoy a picturesque hike along the Messalonskee Stream in Oakland. Hike amongst Giant Hemlock Trees along a beautiful trail that runs stream side. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the strategically placed picnic tables. This trail extends from KMD near the Oakland Town Office all the way to the Rice Rips Road near the CMP sub station. Parking lots can be found on both the KMD end and the Rice Rips Road end. This trail is 3 miles round trip.
